We call it Pilates out of respect for it originator Joseph Pilates. Who believed that a balance of body and mind was possible through the study and practice of the Art and Science of Contrology. Because Contrology develops the body and mind simultaneously.
The principals of Pilates are that you concentrate on control of your body as you move with precision and fluidity. Last but not least breath completely.
Working to understand how to use the entire body efficiently through each Pilates movement so you can take that knowledge in to your life.
Working through tension and relaxation to attain then maintain a balanced body and mind.
